At Black we believe that the customer is King! Customers spend on average 400 hours a year shopping. Our track record of retail innovation stretches back over fifteen years to when Paul and Steve first worked together designing and delivering Sainsbury’s at Greenwich the UK’s first low energy supermarket. The store won the RIBA Sustainability Award in 2000 and was also short- listed for the Stirling Prize.
We continue to design retail environments that are fit for Kings and love the challenge of reconciling the needs of operators with the aspirations of the communities within which they seek permission to build. We relish the challenges posed by awkward shaped sites, sensitive contexts and the need to incorporate a blend of other uses to form complex mixed use developments. Fundamentally we believe
that “retail is detail”.
