Black Architecture have secured consent at appeal for 17 new affordable homes on a former garage site in Cheshunt, Waltham Cross following and initial refusal by Broxbourne Borough Council in 2024.
The scheme is comprised of a mix of two and three bedroom dual aspect apartments which wrap around the edge of the site to enclose a rear communal garden. Front doors activate the street, in between electric vehicle charging parking bays and pockets of landscaping incorporating street trees. Each home is provided with private amenity, either in the form of a garden, or inset balconies which address the road and communal areas.
In line with the practice’s long standing approach to sustainability, a fabric first strategy is adopted which aligns with the use of air source heat pump and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery low carbon technology.
