Stakeholder consultation has now been undertaken on the New Greens Community Hub proposals that were developed in collaboration with St Albans City and District Council and potential user groups throughout 2025.
The feedback has identified that local residents and businesses have a strong vested interest in the proposals, with wide-ranging feedback that suggest expanded and flexible facilities will be used by the local community and attract people to the local area. The hub offers the opportunity to fill a gap in local facilities by offering a café that will operate alongside sports facilities, a youth club and a new home for the resident’s association, and its thriving social club.
As with community facilities at Cottonmill to the south of the city, the New Green’s site falls within the grey belt fringe, bridging the threshold between the urban environment and openness of the greenbelt that supports community wellbeing.
