A planning application has been submitted to Hertfordshire County Council for a new Motocross track at the Young People’s Centre in Maple Cross south of Rickmansworth, expanding the facilities at the existing building.
The project is designed to offer young people who attend the centre the opportunity to learn how to ride and maintain zero emissions electric MotoX bikes in a safe and managed environment. The track utilises an area of grassland to the rear of the adjacent church, integrating areas of bio-diverse planting to deliver a 10% net gain at the site. A new timber shelter and picnic table provides a viewing point for the group of participants across the track and offers shade during the summer.
The scheme is financially supported through a community fund associated with the HS2 project that has a major works facility to the north of the site alongside the M25 motorway. Construction of the track is anticipated to be complete in summer 2025.
