Positive pre-application submission feedback from the London Borough of Camden has been received for proposals put forward by Black Architecture and our Heritage Consultant to create a new micro dwelling in an existing Georgian townhouse.
The detailed plans that were developed by the practice optimise the use of building by overlapping living, working, entertaining and sleeping activities around a flexible central space that changes throughout the day. Bathroom and kitchen functions are locked into the stair core at edge of the plan away from the perimeter walls, allowing the original Georgian joinery features to be sensitively refurbished and experienced within the apartment.
An innovative secondary glazing system that is broken down into individual panes to reflect the original fenestration pattern is being tested. If successful, the product will form part of the listed building application that will be submitted in summer 2025.
