Following a fire in 2025 that destroyed the Redbourn caravan park site and displaced 15 tenants, Black Architecture have been working with the County Council on designs to rebuild facilities.
Whilst the proposals are financially constrained by the insurance funding, the designs are able to deliver amenity blocks to enhanced thermal and acoustic standards to reduce running costs for tenants and increase privacy. Foundations and drainage points from the demolished buildings are refurbished and reused, focussing resources on new internal layouts. New plot boundary walls will be constructed in non-combustible materials to reduce future fire risks.
As part of the proposals new services will be brought into the site to enable each tenant to have control over utilities serving their plot. Construction work is due to commence in mid-July and be completed in six months.
