A year after completing the affordable housing scheme Black have returned to site to see how successful the project has been in repairing the streetscape around Leavesden Green.
Our proposals replaced 10 low grade bungalows with 32 high performance homes and created a new entrance to the recreation ground. The scheme uses a stopping up order to close off a redundant road and allow isolated green spaces to be connected to provide the space that opens up the park. A land swap further improves the development plots. New homes address the entrance with habitable rooms and front doors to provide natural surveillance. The project has assimilated into the existing estate with residents proud to be photographed enjoying their new homes.
The project economically delivers high social value without the need for any additional land to be purchased, a benefit identified through a rigorous feasibility study process.
