Ash Construction have commenced the heavy demolition works at Morley Gallery in preparation for the remodelling that will double the available gallery space.
The initial phase of the project involves the removal of obsolete toilets and mass concrete floors to create a new double height space at the rear of the gallery that will accommodate the new timber lined main staircase. A front door has been formed on St George’s Road and basement strip out works completed in readiness for the anti-flood drainage system and fit out works to form a black box digital gallery space.
The next phase will see the fitting of high performance anti-bandit windows throughout the ground floor rooms and installation of low carbon plant to condition the new gallery spaces.
