Black Architecture are supporting a nursery school in Cheshunt as part of their bid for direct funding from the Department for Education to increase nursery school places in the local area for under 5’s.
The proposals that have been designed in collaboration with the head teacher would deliver extensions to two existing classrooms and increase sanitary provision across the school to reflect the larger class sizes. New covered external play space is also created and kitchen provision included for the preparation of meals throughout the day. As part of the scheme support spaces for teachers and administration staff are enhanced, rectifying earlier layout changes.
Throughout the design development stage Pro Bono cost and programming support has been offered by Hainstone Chartered Surveyors. The two practices are providing a similar service to a nursery in Baldock, Hertfordshire, as they bid for similar funding.
