To facilitate the removal of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete at the Grade II listed Widford Primary School, planning consent is being sought for temporary classroom facilities in the neighbouring village school at Hunsdon.
This minor enabling works package to allow pupils to be temporarily transferred to a new site has required the assembly of a consultancy team to address the construction, transportation, arboriculture and ecological constraints typically associated with a major planning submission. Consultation has also been required with both the highway department and Parish Council to agree a plan for how children travel between villages, with minimal impact on the local road network.
Listed Building and Planning Applications for the work at Widford will follow, with the RAAC roofing works incorporating timber construction and modern standards of insulation to improve the thermal efficiency and reduce embodied carbon.
