Following an earlier visit by one of the local MPs, the construction of specialist SEND classrooms within three Primary Schools in Hertfordshire has now been completed ahead of the new academic year and are now welcoming new children.
The school remodelling proposals designed by Black Architecture for Hertfordshire County Council deliver much needed SEND within mainstream school places for pupils with special educational needs. Each project repurposed underutilised larger classrooms, creating new teaching spaces for smaller 8 pupil classes and introducing a mix of sensory rooms, breakout spaces and new sanitary provision. As part of the works building services have also been fully upgraded.
Each project required a slightly different solution, following consultation with the head teachers, SENCO’s and school business mangers, although common themes around optimising valuable space link the solutions developed by Black.
