Planning consent has been secured from Enfield Council for the extension, conversion and retrofit of Solar House into a new residential apartment block located adjacent to Southgate Underground Station.
The planning strategy involved two separate submissions. An initial application secured a change of use to the lower floors of the building, whilst a second submission extended and unified the building to deliver additional new homes. The development adopts a similar form to the Chase House project that Black completed with the client team earlier in 2024, returning a lower density, high embodied carbon, commercial space to a meaningful town centre use.
The project will enable the building fabric to be enhanced with internal insulation and a low carbon all electric conditioning strategy introduced. Construction works are anticipated to commence towards the end of the year.
