8 Storey’s Gate is featured in CIBSE’s updated version of TM40 which focusses on best practice design and operation of buildings.
The ICE Administrative Headquarters was completed 6 years ago, but is still providing inspiration for how a building can be designed to enhance the wellbeing of its users. The mixed mode office allows occupants to open windows when conditions are right and uses a traffic light system to warn when heating, cooling or active ventilation systems will become operational. The design shows that a listed building can be repurposed without compromising either performance or wellbeing.
The next challenge is to meet standards that will allow a net zero to be achieved to address the climate emergency.
