Following the successful remodelling of the Three Rivers District Council waste services depot at Batchworth, Black Architecture have been engaged to masterplan an industrial site in Hertfordshire that includes waste facilities.
The new depot is to be designed to address the needs of an expanding population and to manage the collection of changing waste streams that include mixed recyclables and food waste. The masterplan futureproofs the local service and enables the current diesel trucks to be replaced with a full electric vehicle fleet. As part of the decarbonisation research programme, information has been shared with the London Borough of Islington Council who operate from all electric facilities.
Proposals will be developed over the next 3 months ahead of a presentation to political members that will assess the viability of the scheme and seek a working budget to undertake the next phase of the project.
