Haringey Council have granted planning approval for a land locked industrial building at Turnpike Lane, located behind commercial and mixed-use properties on West Green Road.
The scheme replaces a traditional asbestos cement trussed rafter roof with a new mono pitched framed structure that increases the useable volume of the building by 46%, without raising the overall height. The new roof incorporates wildflower planting to both enhance bio-diversity and manage rainwater run off, and is also designed to support a PV array that provides renewable energy. Reuse of the existing walls and floor slabs locks in embodied carbon.
Consent was secured following detailed negotiations with planning officers to demonstrate that the development would not harm the amenity of neighbours and that it delivers high quality low carbon employment space.
